    Description

    The Herschel iQ MD2 Wired Thermostat is ideal for new builds/renovations where cabling can be neatly hidden whether it be for domestic or commercial applications. When used in conjunction with your wifi network and the SmartLife app, MD2 can also be controlled remotely via the internet, enabling you to manage your heating when you are away from the building. The SmartLife App also enables control of your heating by voice using Alexa or Google Assistant.

    MD2 is wired directly to the mains circuit and the heaters. All MD2 orders include both a plastic surface mount backbox and a metal recessed back box.

    The MD2 thermostat will operate your Herschel heater(s) by turning them on if the room temperature is lower than the desired temperature and turning them off once the desired temperature is reached. The MD2 is easy to operate, features a large digital touchscreen display, and incorporates the latest EcoDesign energy-saving features including Herschel’s open window technology.

    MD2 has a keypad locking feature to prevent unauthorized tampering making it suitable for commercial applications such as hotels, care homes, student accommodation and let properties.  The MD2 is a 16 amp thermostat enabling up to 3.6 kW of Herschel heaters to be connected.

     

    Note: Herschel iQ controls will only work with Herschel heaters.   *Attempted use with any other heater brand will invalidate the warranty.

    With a very clear backlit digital control display the MD2 has easy-to-use functions and the latest energy-saving technology including:

    • 7 x 1 day programmable, 4 periods per day;
    • Manual and Economy modes;
    • Window Open Function (shutting off the heating if a rapid drop in temperature is detected until you override this or wait 1 hour);
    • Target Temperature control (up to 45°C/113°F, making it suitable for specialist high-temperature applications such as hot yoga studios);
    • Keypad lock;
    • Wall-mounted;
    • IP30 protection – do not install in zones 0-2 in bathrooms (indoor use only);
    • App-enabled;
    • Voice control via Alexa or Google Assistant when used with the App.

      Heater arrived without thermostat originally. Quick response from Herschel, FedEx had delayed these by a day. Unit looks to be of good quality & is quietly effective in providing background heating in a small living room. Easy to set up control via the Smart Life app on Android, although I’ve not explored all the options available. The ability to control the heater remotely will be particularly useful. Looking to be an economical way to provide localised, controllable heat that may be used to minimize the necessity of switching on the gas central heating during cooler weather during the spring & fall. Expensive, compared to other infra-red panels I’ve seen on Amazon & elsewhere, but definetly worth the investment.
